IBBY Canada is proud to introduce the Canadian titles that have been selected for the 2026 IBBY Honour List.
The IBBY Honour List is a biennial selection of outstanding, recently published books, honouring writers, illustrators and translators from IBBY member countries. The IBBY Honour List is one of the most widespread and effective ways of furthering IBBY’s objective of encouraging international understanding through children’s literature.

• English to French translation: Le chandail orange de Miya, text by Wanda John-Kehewin, illustrations by Erika Rodriguez Medina, translation by Christiane Duchesne, Éditions de l’Isatis, 2025
IBBY Canada would like to extend thanks to the selection committees for their work on this project. The titles were selected by two IBBY Canada committees who can nominate one book from each of the three categories (fiction, illustration and translation) in each official language. The English language committee was made up by co-chairs Nadine King and Maral Maclagan and committee members Patti McIntosh and Colette Poitras. The French language committee consisted of co-chairs Josiane Polidori and Nátali de Mello.
The Honour List diplomas will be presented to the recipients at the 40th IBBY World Congress in Ottawa, Canada (August 6-9, 2026) where the catalogue is introduced and the books are shown for the first time.
After Congress, seven parallel sets of the books circulate around the world at exhibitions during conferences and book fairs. Permanent collections of the IBBY Honour List books are kept in Munich, Zurich, Bratislava, St. Petersburg, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur and Tucson.
IBBY, the International Board on Books for Young People, was founded in 1953. It is a network of organizations in 80 countries committed to bringing books and children together.
IBBY Canada, established in 1980, is a volunteer organization promoting quality French-language and English-language Canadian children’s literature nationally and internationally.

La Liste d’Honneur IBBY est une sélection biennale de livres exceptionnels de publication récente qui met de l’avant les auteurs, illustrateurs et traducteurs des pays membres de IBBY. La Liste d’Honneur IBBY est l’un des moyens les plus courants et efficaces de mettre en œuvre le mandat d’IBBY, soit de favoriser la compréhension internationale à travers la littérature jeunesse.

Après le congrès, sept collections parallèles de ces livres parcourront le monde lors d’expositions, de conférences et de foires de livres. Des collections permanentes des livres des Listes d’Honneur se retrouvent à Munich, Zurich, Bratislava, St-Pétersbourg, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur et Tucson.
