Announcing the Finalists for the 2022 Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award
Every year, IBBY Canada presents the Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award to a Canadian illustrator in recognition of outstanding artistic talent in a Canadian picture book. Selected from 142 books submitted by 37 publishers, the illustrators of the 10 finalist books depict, with talent and originality, stories of hope, companionship, bravery and imagination in a range of styles and techniques captivating for young readers. The winner will be announced at the IBBY Canada Annual Meeting of Members on April 1, 2023—all are invited to attend.

The Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Canadian Picture Book Award was established in 1985 following the death of Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver, one of Canada’s pre-eminent book illustrators. In her will, Cleaver left a fund of $10,000 dollars for an award to be given annually in recognition of outstanding artistic talent in a Canadian picture book. The recipient receives a cheque for $1,000 dollars and a certificate.
