Would you like to serve on the board in one of the following roles?
IBBY Canada is reaching out to members from across Canada for expressions of interest in the following positions:
Vice Presidents (1st VP and 2nd VP)
As members of the board executive committee, the 1st and 2nd VPs work to support the role of president, as well as have active involvement in at least one of goals set out in the 2020-2023 strategic plan (described below).
Regional Councillors
Alberta
Prairies: Saskatchewan and Manitoba
Atlantic Canada: Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland
Regional Councillors ensure regional representation on the Board and stand for and promote IBBY Canada in their region. Importantly, Regional Councillors also strive to promote and engage membership in their region.
Recording Secretary
The Recording Secretary is responsible for IBBY Canada’s minute book and attends and acts as secretary of all meetings of the Board. They are responsible for taking, and the distribution of, meeting minutes.
There are 8–10 board meetings anticipated annually. Meetings are held by Zoom and typically last 90 minutes.
It is anticipated that each board member will be actively involved in ad hoc or ongoing committee work related to the following goals outlined in the 2020–2023 strategic plan.
Goal 1: To ensure IBBY Canada continues as a viable organization with strong, representative governance and with administrative practices that support the sustainability of the organization.
Goal 2: To develop and present more exceptional programs and projects that are meaningful to stakeholders with delivery throughout Canada.
Goal 3: To develop a strong, engaged and diverse membership representative of the range (and many) stakeholders across the country.
Goal 4: To maintain a strong sense of identity and communicate its value to internal and external stakeholders.
Goal 5: To be well represented internationally in the programs and projects of IBBY International.
If you are interested in any of these roles, please reach out to IBBY Canada Co-Chairs Yvette Ghione (treasurer@ibby-canada.org) or Patti McIntosh (president@ibby-canada.org) before December 15, 2020 indicating your background, any previous involvement with IBBY Canada and your area(s) of interest.
