1991 – Judy Sarick

Judy Sarick worked as a children’s librarian at Toronto Public Library and was a teacher-librarian and Head of School Services for the Toronto Board of Education. In 1974 she and her husband Hy opened the Children’s Bookstore in Toronto. For the next twenty-five years, the store, with Sarick’s emphasis on quality — and passionate, knowledgeable staff like Maria Martella, Marion Seary and Celia Lottridge — helped to fuel the explosion of Canadian children’s literature and fill homes and school libraries with well-chosen books and music. Judy was a regular participant on juries and on the CBC Morningside’s Children’s Book Panel.
