The Cleaver award is given annually in recognition of outstanding artistic talent in a Canadian picture book. The recipient receives a cheque for $1000 dollars and a certificate. An awards ceremony to celebrate the winner is held each year.

The Cleaver award is administered by a committee of three members of the Canadian section of the International Board on Books for Young People. The recipient is a Canadian illustrator of a picture book published in Canada in English or French during each calendar year. To be eligible, the book must be a first edition and contain original illustrations. Picture books include original stories, poetry, and folk and fairy tales.

IBBY Canada will be donating the books to a suitable recipient at the end of each year.

Deadline for entries is December 15th, 2010 for books published between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010.

Please submit one copy of any eligible book to each of these addresses (3 copies in total)
